About ModelGlance

JC Billerey
“Modeling is a profession, not a dream to be monetized.”

I'm JC Billerey. I've been a portrait photographer since 2016, with a strong interest in marketing and software. I built ModelGlance to help models navigate an industry where information stays fragmented, and sometimes misleading.

My mission

Make the real modeling profession visible, and give models the tools to practice it properly.

Concretely, ModelGlance combines two things:

  • An editorial directory of verified agencies in France and around twenty other countries (Europe, Asia, Oceania, North America, South Africa).
  • A free toolkit for models: online portfolio, composite card, application tracker, measurements and TFP contract generator.

Since February 2026, this is no longer just a directory: it's a complete software suite for a model's professional life.

The core principle

A legitimate modeling agency is paid by its clients (brands, magazines, casting directors, fashion houses), never by the model.

Any agency asking you to pay to be listed, to buy a 'mandatory' book, to take posing classes or to pay a 'membership fee' is doing something other than modeling. That reading grid guides every agency I list here.

Who this is for

Aspiring or established models

To spot agencies to apply to, understand the industry vocabulary, prepare your applications without getting scammed.

Photographers

To identify relevant agencies to collaborate with, especially for tests and agency polaroids.

Casting directors and brands

To quickly source agencies across around twenty countries.

My values

Transparency

No paid placement, no hidden sponsored content. Agencies don't pay to be listed. I explain how I work and why.

Independence

The directory is editorial. I favor the interests of models over the commercial interests of agencies.

Pedagogy

Clear explanations to understand the professional landscape and make informed decisions.

How I select agencies

Each listed agency goes through four checks:

  1. 1Formal control: official website, legal notices, verifiable contact details.
  2. 2Observable activity: news, social media, castings, up-to-date portfolios.
  3. 3History and public reputation: removal of questionable or known-risk entities.
  4. 4Anti-scam rule: I verify that no listed agency asks models for money to appear in their books.

Agencies are then classified by country, city and specialty to make your comparison easier.

The road so far

  1. 2023

First personal Excel file listing the agencies I encountered during my shoots.

  2. 2024

    Public directory goes online.

  3. 2025

Guides, comparator and search improvements added.

  4. February 2026

ModelGlance becomes a complete software suite. Online portfolio, composite card, application tracker, measurements and TFP contract generator.

  5. March 2026

The directory expands to Europe (Italy, Belgium, Switzerland, Portugal) then to around twenty countries in total (Asia, Oceania, North America, South Africa).

My story, in three lines

During my shoots, I often talked with models. The difficulty of finding reliable agencies came up constantly, doubled with worry about shady offers. In 2023, I started with a simple Excel file. Today, ModelGlance has become what I would have wanted to give those models.
